Crankshafts

Our new vision for supply means we have specified our own version of EN40B, closely paralleling the Corus 722M24 material which is no longer available. The ESR process used gives ultra clean material with inclusions such as sulphur being eliminated - , and the heat treatment processes provide a higher core strength with finer grain structure and zero inclusions leading to better impact resistance. The IZOD test is about 10% better than anything currently available.

For restoration and different levels of specific horsepower we have the option to specify EN24 which allows large diameters and lower cost to be accommodated.

These globally sourced crankshafts are all made with the state of the art Japanese and German machinery, and are supported by full material labs. We do our own material analysis confirmation in the UK with the assistance of Warwick University materials lab.

A full range of heat and surface treatment is available including nitriding, through hardening, PVD coatings, DLC and other experimental surface finishes.

Crankshafts are serial numbered and supplied balanced and with superfinished journals and very importantly, are highly cost competitive.

technology

All cranks are designed in the UK by ourselves, including parametrically driven modelling, allowing easy creation of crank variants. Our design systems enable us to calculate variations on counterbalance weighting and interrogate models for mass and rotational inertia to prove that competition cranks will have an edge, and restorations can be either perfectly replicated or enhanced as necessary.

We collate available data from historical designs and re-analyse this with the latest CAD/CAM software, giving us a library of information for new designs.

Mass property calculation is used for balancing and designing weight out.

Dynamic stress analysis

Reverse engineering is available via scanning, and topography deduction based on the original manufacturing methods when perfect replication is necessary.

We have access to very high-level design analysis should there be a requirement.
